"Wow! I didn't even recognize this place!" We hear this all the time these days with all the new renovations that have taken place over the past few years. When we first took over this community it had sadly become tired and messy. It was a tan mustard yellow accented with forest green trim and green roofs to match. It was an interesting look for sure.
I've always had a fondness for green roofs since one of my favorite books was Anne of Green Gables, but this color combo was definitely not "scope for the imagination." My fellow literary fans will understand this reference. The community now has modern up to date paint of a neutral pallet that has a peaceful feel to it and is always kept immaculately clean.
We completely redid the swimming pool and since we took over management there has not been a day the pool has been down in 2 years! Our residents love their sparkling clean pool.
We also did interior renovations to bring new life and energy to our community. And We finally got the new parking lot and new roofs complete. The hail storm during the spring really hit Norman hard and caused significant damage. As a result, we got all new roofs! So we said goodbye to our green roofs and welcomed something different.
What's next? Sad as it is, we are having most of our beautiful, but huge trees cut down. After much discussion with the arborist, it was decided that the best course of action would be to remove them. They all have grown way too big for the spaces, are a liability to our roofs and causing the soil to erode. Many of these old trees have also reached the end of their lifespan and are starting to lose limbs. So simply trimming them back is not an option. We will replace them with more appropriately sized ornamental trees and landscape the areas with grass.
We will miss our beautiful trees, but looking forward to a fresh new start.
Here's to another day of greatness and exciting new things on the horizon.
